Strava: Enhancing User Acquisition with New Feature Designs

Overview:

Strava is the leading fitness app for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts, and I collaborated with their management team to support user acquisition through the design of new features and product offerings. My role involved creating mockups for various screens that introduced new subscription plans, such as a family plan, and promotional offers like a two-month free subscription. The challenge was to maintain Strava’s strong visual identity while ensuring that each screen presented a clear, impactful message that resonated with potential users.

Objective:

The objective was to support Strava’s growth by designing new features and promotional offers that would attract new users. The designs needed to integrate seamlessly with Strava’s established visual language while delivering compelling, user-friendly interfaces that effectively communicated the value of these new offerings.

Approach:

  1. Feature Design & Mockups:I worked closely with the Strava team to design mockups for new product features and subscription offers. This included screens for the launch of a family plan and promotions like a two-month free subscription, aimed at boosting user acquisition. Each screen was designed to highlight the benefits of these offers while maintaining Strava’s clean, performance-driven aesthetic.
  2. Leveraging Existing Visual Language:Strava has a strong, recognizable visual language, and it was important to stay aligned with that identity while introducing new elements. I used their existing design principles—bold typography, high-contrast color schemes, and clear iconography—to ensure consistency while keeping the designs fresh and engaging.
  3. Clear, Impactful Messaging:In addition to visual design, I focused on creating clear, concise messaging that would immediately communicate the benefits of Strava’s new features. The goal was to simplify the user decision-making process, making it easy for new users to understand the value of the family plan or the free trial period.

Results:

The new features and product designs helped Strava enhance its user acquisition strategy by offering compelling, well-designed interfaces that appealed to both new and existing users. The use of consistent, impactful visuals reinforced Strava’s brand strength while successfully driving engagement with the new offerings.
