We worked with Strava’s VPs on product strategy: new features, revamps of existing ones, and the presentations and visuals that carried those ideas, from a family plan to a two-month free trial.
Overview
Strava is the leading app for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts. Around 2022 we worked directly with several of its VPs on product strategy: which new features to introduce, which existing ones to revamp, and how to present those ideas inside the company.
The work sat between strategy and design. We shaped the thinking with the VPs, then made it visible: presentations, feature concepts and polished mockups that showed what each idea would look like in the product.
What we did
- Strategy sessions and presentations with Strava’s VPs on new and revamped features.
- Feature concepts and mockups for new subscription offers, including a family plan and a two-month free trial aimed at acquisition.
- Visuals that illustrated the strategy, designed in Strava’s own language: bold typography, high-contrast color and clear iconography.
- Clear, concise messaging on every screen, so a new user understands the value of an offer at a glance.
Why it worked
Strategy decks are easy to agree with and hard to act on. Showing each idea as a real Strava screen gave the leadership team something concrete to react to, and kept the new offers consistent with a brand athletes already trust.
